Table Duty – Every Family Plays a Part
Table Duty Video
Table Duty is an important part of being involved in Sydney Rays. At every game, our team is required to provide two parents or family members to assist with table duties. We expect every family to take their turn on the roster – it's part of being a team and supporting the club.
If you've never done Table Duty before, don't worry! It can seem a little daunting at first, but once you've done it a few times, you'll quickly become familiar with the process. We roster two parents together so you can support one another, and the opposing team will also have representatives at the table.
Table duties generally involve:
-
Completing and maintaining the scoresheet.
-
Operating the game clock.
-
Managing the shot clock.
These are important roles that help ensure every game runs fairly and smoothly.
Table Officials Course
To help parents feel confident in carrying out these responsibilities, Water Polo NSW encourages the development of knowledgeable and competent table officials. Parents rostered for Table Duty are asked to complete the online Competition Officials Course.
The course covers the rules, responsibilities and procedures involved in officiating a water polo game.
How to access the course
Step 1 – Register as a Sydney Rays Parent / Supporter Member
Each parent undertaking Table Duty needs their own club membership to access the online training. This is a free membership and is separate from your child's player registration.

Club Table Duty Training
Sydney Rays aims to offer practical Table Duty training sessions at the beginning of each season, subject to the availability of volunteers to run them.
These sessions will cover the basics of completing a scoresheet, operating the game clock and using the shot clock.
Our aim is to make sure every parent feels comfortable and confident taking their turn.
Thank you for doing your part. A successful club relies on everyone contributing!
